Home Remedies for Tonsillitis

Share

Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils, which are lymph nodes located at the back of the throat. Tonsillitis results in the enlargement and inflammation of the tonsils, caused by either a bacterial or viral infection. The degree of the infection itself varies from mild to severe. Tonsillitis is contagious at any stage and can be spread quickly to another person.Common side effects of tonsillitis include pain in the tonsil and throat region, pain while swallowing, inflamed and swollen tonsils, severe sore throat, fever and congestion.

Although a professional health care practitioner should be contacted as soon as symptoms arise, there are natural remedies that have been practiced for thousands of years. Although these natural remedies may not cure the problem, they may help provide temporary relief.

  4. Tonsillitis is generally spread very easily from one person to other through airborne droplets, hand contact or kissing. Gargle with purified alum, it will give you relief. You may even apply dry powder of alum over the swollen tonsils.

    Hello,
ive had tonsilitous 8 times this year, and im only just going in for my consultation to have them taken out.. what i did was have anti biotics drink warm water, lemon and honey which really soothes it, gargle salt water, and if you go into your local pharmarcy and ask for this mixture, you literally put a few grains of this powder in with cold water, and gargle it, the bits stick on your tonsils and help get rid of it, its cheap and helps! <3

A very warm shower helps relieve my congestion and helps with my fever coming and going. I only do this if I have the energy. I also will mix a teaspoon each of vinegar and honey and take that a few times a day to relieve my sore throat.(My grandmother taught me that trick!) and getting more vitamins will help you recover faster, drink an ensure shake or if possible, take vitamin capsules.
