A sore throat is the inflammation of the area surrounding the back of the throat. A sore throat can be brought on by a viral infection. Sore throats are often accompanied by a cold or flue. Comon symptoms of a sore throat include pain swallowing, dryness in the throat area, prolonged irritation, swollen lymph nodes and coughing.

Home Remedies for a Sore Throat

  • An old traditional remedy for sore throats is mixing together 2 cloves of fresh garlic, honey and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Chew this mixture for a few minutes before swallowing. Remember to take this mix daily.
  • Boil tulsi leaves in water. Once cool to the touch, gargle vigorously. You can also drink this mixture for added relief.
  • Gargle with lukewarm water and salt. This will help alleviate the symptoms of the sore throat.
  • Boil cloves in water. Strain and add honey and black pepper. Drink this mix to help alleviate a sore throat.
  • Increase your consumption of fresh garlic. Garlic is known for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. It is sure to help treat a sore throat.
  • Make a warm cup of lemon or chamomile tea with added honey. This is sure to help you combat the symptoms of a sore throat.
  • Add cinnamon to a glass of hot water. Add honey and consume throughout the day.
  • Boil fenugreek seeds in water. Once cool to the touch, gargle with this water.
