Dark circles, which are the appearance of darkened skin or rings under the eyes, can be due to many reasons, including lack of sleep, fatigue, stress, nutrient deficiency, sun exposure, hormonal concerns, drug use and depression.

  • Get rest! Sleep is important and critical for the body to function in a balanced manner.
  • Increase your intake of water to at least six to eight glasses a day. This will help expel toxic compounds that may be contributing to the presence of dark circles.
  • Place dampened teabags on the eyes while lying down for ten minutes. This will help reduce dark circles and inflammation.
  • Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Try to include more and more green leafy vegetables in your diet.
  • Place fresh cucumber slices on the eyes. Cucumbers will help lessen the appearance of dark circles. You can also apply fresh cucumber juice to the area as well.
  • Potato slices over the eyes are also said to work well. Place potato slices over your eyes morning and night, for a week. You will notice the reduction in darkness in the circle.
  • Make a paste of turmeric, tomato juice and lemon juice and flour. Apply this paste to the dark circles under the eyes. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and wash with cold water. Apply this paste every day for a week.
