Hives, urticaria, is the presence of red patches or outbreaks on the skin over the body. The occurrence of hives is triggered by histamine. Hives can occur in different sizes and can last for various durations.
Hives usually occur due to an underlying allergy or the extreme environmental conditions. Hives may display as swelling, red rashes, pain and bumps.

Home Remedies for Hives

  • Take a cold shower or place ice bags on the affected area. This should help treat the outbreak.
  • Add a bit of baking soda to your bath water. Soak in this water for at least 15 minutes in order to get some relieve from hives.
  • Apply vitamin E oil or Aloe Vera ointment to the area of outbreak. This should help relieve hive symptoms.
  • Both chamomile and mint tea are said to help relieve the symptoms if hives.
  • Make a paste out of oatmeal and a splash of milk. This traditional remedy is said to bring instant relief from hives.
  • Increasing your consumption of grapefruit or papaya is said to help relieve hives.
  • Using a cotton ball, apply milk of magnesia to the affected outbreak area. Applying calamine lotion to the affected area is also believed to provide relief from hives.
